Biography
Isabella Ståhl is a swedish photographer. She grew up in a rural village in northern Sweden where her mother works in the creative field as a clothes designer. At 15 she left home to go study in Stockholm, where her main major became photography. Upon graduation, Isabella worked in TV-production in several capacities for years, before she decided to go back and fully focus on photography. She moved to New York in her early twenties where she was part of the young artistic youth scene in the east village. She fell in love with the city and after one year of studies at a photography school at the island Gotland in Sweden, she moved back to New York in 2012 to continue her studies at the International Center of Photography.
She has always been close to nature growing up in rural Sweden; therefor landscapes and animals has naturally became an important part of her photography. Her work is ofter described as moody and melancholic; yet harmonic playful and romantic.
Isabella's work has been published in several online and print publications including GUP Magazine, Burn Magazine, Somewhere Magazine, Of the Afternoon and Lensscratch. Her work is exhibited at galleries such as Kasher Potamkin Gallery in New York, Photoville in Brooklyn, Menier Gallery in London and the International Center of Photography in New York. Her work is included in collections at the Museum of Photography in Stockholm and Lokomotiv Gallery in Bollnäs. Isabella works as an artist and freelance photographer with different assignments around the globe.
