‘Mamadou – Live Poultry Dealer, Paris, France, 2016’ In a side street of the African quarter in Paris XVIII, Mr. Mamadou, a talented businessman, runs a murky little shop selling live poultry. He spends his days among cluckings and scufflings, feathers and occasional eggs, cutting holes into boxes and wrapping the chickens he manages to sell to unusual visitors, either for the halal slaughter or voodoo rituals – which, only Mr. Mamadou himself would know.
