Biography
Sophie Brändström, (born in Stockholm, in 1962) is a documentary photographer. After studying sociology and psychology in London, she joined the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and turned to journalistic photographic writing. She continues her journey as a photojournalist, serving the dailies Boca Raton News and Miami Herald. Daily press photographer, she covered American society for four years (1992-1996). Imbued with this American experience, which deals with subjects, anchored in everyday life, which evolves over time, she joins the Public Eye, a collective of photographers in Paris.
She is particularly attracted to subjects that are human and other, more heritage on the links between people and their territories. She explores the weight of history and social conventions on the individual, while varying the techniques of shooting and opening up to video documentaries.
