Artisans I had long wanted to start a personal long-term series on crafts. I wanted to make my contribution to documenting the know-how of these artisans who transmit a history and values, seek excellence and create unique pieces, works of art in their own right. Influenced by the work of great photographers such as Eugène Atget, August Sander, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon or William Carrick, I was looking for how to find my way and succeed with a sensitive approach to craftsmen at work, in their creative process, in their privacy. For a year now, I have been visiting artisans, about fifteen to this day, and spending time with them. I try to capture those poetic moments where their minds guide their hands which transform material into art. This is a work in progress. October 2020.
