Biography
Olga Hazan is Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies
Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM). Holder of several diplomas, including a B.A. in Fine Arts and a Ph.
and a doctorate in art history, she has also taught classical ballet
taught classical ballet from 1974 to 1986 and art history from 1988 to 2018 (at
Concordia University and UQÀM, and more occasionally at Université de Montréal and
Université Laval). She has also collaborated on numerous cultural and artistic
including several with the FMA.
Olga Hazan has published seven books on important art-historical subjects: Le mythe
du progrès artistique (Les PUM, 1999), La culture artistique au Québec au seuil de la
modernité (Septentrion, 2010), Le Prophète Muhammad: entre le mot et l'image,
co-edited with Jean-Jacques Lavoie (Fides, 2011); Le Canada français en images (Fides,
2015); Stratégies figuratives dans l'art juif, I et II (Les PUM, 2016 and 2020), L'histoire
en images du Canada français by Jean-Baptiste Lagacé, concept and digital
