Creative by nature, this is after leaving his band that Matthew Venot starts photography in almost 35 years. A native of Brest, Matthieu Venot began with the desire to rediscover the city and show its own angle.
By concentrating its framing on architectural details and adopting points of constructivist view, the artist manages to create abstract and geometric images. Only out by days of sunny weather, Venot Matthew uses this immaculate sky as a studio background. That is, for him, a way not to disturb the composition of his images: simple graphics. The lines intersect and overlap, shapes stand out from the blue background to make us forget what we see: a roof, a wall, railing, a balcon. This beautiful weather also allows the colors to be more powerful. Indeed, color is a critical element in the photographs of Matthew Venot. The photographer made us forget the Breton gray and transforms our vision of the city to evoke images of California or Florida. The choice of these pastel colors is, for the artist, a way to pass through his photos, the optimism that lives.
