Biographie

   
Mathieu Schreyer began his life in Pontoise, just outside of Paris, France. His nomadic childhood led him through places from Morocco and Tunisia to Kuwait and Hong Kong. After DJing for many years in his native France, Mathieu ultimately settled in Los Angeles in 1995. He immediately began DJing at LA's notable night spots such as Louis XIV, Indochine, Little Temple and Hyde Lounge.
 
Mathieu's eclectic style of mixing everything from Afro Beat to Broken Beat established him as a resident DJ along with Garth Trinidad at Zanzibar, the club that earned an LA global musical award. Mathieu has since shared the stage with well-known musicians and DJs: Ben Harper, Meshell Ndegeocello, DJ A-Trak, Egyptian Lover, Peanut Butter Wolf, Questlove of the Roots, Dam Funk, J Rocc and Massive Attack. In December 2006 Mathieu joined the DJ staff of indie radio's most highly regarded station 89.9 KCRW. He hosts a nightly show from midnight to 3am. Mathieu plays a unique selection of songs that reflect his worldwide musical tastes. Besides DJing, Mathieu is a prolific remixer and producer. He has worked on movie projects with The White Stripes and with Michel Gondry on his film Human Nature.


Mathieu started a clothing brand in 2010 called Unknown Soldier. His clothing is sold in boutiques around the world: Colette in Paris, Opening Ceremony in the U.S and in shops in Russia, Canada, Denmark, Spain and Japan.
