Biographie
Born in 1966, Laure Vasconi studied architecture at L'Université Paris 8 and at Paris-Belleville, and then photography at the ICP in New York. She worked as an assistant for many photographers of Magnum Photos. After a trip to Russia, she won a grant from AFAA (Cultures France) for her first book Souvenirs du Futur published by Filigranes Éditions.
Laure Vasconi is interested in different kinds of visual representation. She focuses particularly on cinema, theater and television. Through her work she seeks to dematerialize the three-dimensionality of the decor thus revealing its fragility and instability.
She has worked for the press: les Inrockuptibles, Libération, Le Monde; theaters: Odéon, Cité Internationale, Champs Elysées, l'Opéra de Paris, la Cité de la Musique, la Comédie Française; and the agencies: Be-Pôles, ldesign, Textuel, etc. She also works on assignment: l'EMOC Théâtre de l'Odéon (2003-2006), Naïve's tenth birthday, carte blanche for Traces de Vivaldi in Venice (2009), l'INA Portrait de l'entreprise (2007-2008), l'APSV and la Cité de la Musique DEMOS (2010-2011). She conducted courses and workshops at Les Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie d'Arles between 2004 and 2008 and again in 2011.
In 2005, she gave a workshop for children called Des Clics et des classes for the Ministry of Education and Culture, then Atelier Collèges where she taught photography and photography writing with Editions de l'Oeil and the Regional Council of Seine St Denis. She exhibits regularly in France and abroad.
