Biography
Jean-Louis Etienne was born in 1946 and is a French doctor and explorer. After an internship in surgery and specialising in Nutrition and Sports Biology, Jean-Louis Etienne became an expedition doctor. He has taken part in expeditions to the Himalayas, Patagonia and Greenland as well as crewing in a round-the-world sailing race. In 1986, he was the first man to reach the North Pole solo, a pivotal adventure that would lead him to explore the Polar Regions and explain the critical role they play in the Earth’s balance and climate.
