Biography
Born in 1950 in the Loire-Atlantique region, Guy Hersant lives in Paris and Mayenne. Co-founder of the Sellit group in 1979, founder and director from 1982 to 1989 of the Rencontres photographiques en Bretagne and of Le Lieu gallery, he was a curator for the biennial of the African photography of Bamako between 1994 and 2001.
From 2001 and for about 10 years, through residencies and command, he has captures the portraits of many people in their work environment across Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Gabon and in various parts of France.
He has been exhibited in museums, institutions or festivals.
BPI G.Pompidou (Paris), the Museum of Decorative Arts (Nantes), the Rimbaud Museum (Charleville-Mézières), Marco Museo (Vigo), La Filature (Mulhouse), Port-Musée (Douarnenez), Evreux Museum...
He has also been published, mainly at the Editions Filigranes.
