Biographie
Frédérique Barraja graduated from the Art School of Southern California in 1990.
She made her first steps as a photographer in the music industry. While working on a cover for Eric Serra in the Abbey Road studio, she met Luc Besson who hired her as a still photographer on his film The Fifth Element. She continued working as a still photographer for the following film directors: Claude Miller, Walter Salles, Gus Van Sant, Olivier Assayas, Jeanne Labrune, Brigitte Rouan, Ariel Zeitoun. Frédérique also works as a portrait protographer for Studio, Première, Le Monde, Vsd, l'Express, etc.
Sensitive to the status of women, she has travelled the world seeking evocative pictures: HIV-positive women in South Africa, orphanages managers in Mexico, female surgeons. She is interested in one of the last sexual taboos - female masturbation - and directed for French TV channel Canal + Les Branleuses !. Her work is exhibited at the Bon Marché, Galerie Slott and the Grand Palais. She is currently writing her first feature film at Magali films.
