Biographie
David Stibon was born in France in 1974 and lived in Paris ever since he was a child. David Sitbon handles cameras like a child plays with toys. As an adolescent he developed black and white photographs and made enlargements. Photography became his favorite pastime. He documented every outing. These daily recordings allowed him to meet people and enabled him to explore different fields of photography.
David Sitbon has worked as a film editor for the French filmmakers Michel Blanc, Bertrand Tavernier and Mathieu Kassovitz. In 2000 he decided to dedicate himself entirely to photography. While he was organizing 100,000 of his photographs, one shot stood out: a snapshot taken in front of a window that reflected a phantom-like world with intriguing color effects.
Ever since, David Sitbon has been experimenting with reflective surfaces such as mirrors and water. His first exhibition in 2008 was well received by distinguished art collectors. In the summer of 2010 he traveled from the east to the west coast of the United States in a special truck equipped with a giant dark room. In this vehicle he projected video images and slides onto a pane of glass and photographed the reflections of the landscape. He considers this to be a new form of photographic expression allowing light to project onto shadow. This project is called American Reflection.
