Biographie

Corine Sombrun spent her childhood in Africa, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Returning to France, she undertook musicology, piano, and composition studies. In London she worked as composer and maked reports for the BBC about religions. In 2001 during a report in Mongolia, a shaman named Balgir informed her that she is a shaman and had to follow teachings on the Siberian border. After eight years of apprenticeship she becomes the first westerner to reach the status of Udgan, the Mongol term designating women who have received the “gift” then traineeship of mongolian shamanistic traditions.
In 2015, she developed with E. Le Quéméner sound tools to induce a trance. Tested as part of a research program, these "sound loops" have shown that trance is a cognitive function of the human brain more than a "gift" reserved for shamans alone.
Aside from her research trips, she composes for different production companies, collaborates with artists, performs workshops as Les Beaux Arts de Paris and pursues her work on Modified States of Consciousness. Corine Sombrun gives lectures and is author of many books translated into several languages.
