HUG. 2019
This series composed of about 70 digital and analog pictures stands for a model’s whole portrait. In 2019, S. was shown my tumblr photo blog by a friend. S. was looking for someone to capture her body freshly inked by @caroleytattoo . In a quest of identity, she was curious about seeing different shapes of her body in someone else’s eyes and sensitivity. As an artist, i was in a particular research with black and white body photography to represent the authentic deep soul of human subject through a kind of therapy session while the model and photograph are in an intimate context where any feelings could be freely and truly expressed. From the beginning to the end of the three hour session, S. didn’t tell me about the tattoo’s meaning. It was only when we finished that she revealed to me the scars were a big hug to embrace and share anytime with all the love she could find in herself and special people. The frames are part of a puzzle of her body playing with the borders of the squares and the lines of her tattoo. The unique details of her folds, moles and skin fragilities are graphicly celebrated with light and grace. Sometimes the frame enlarges and her body dives and floats in the minimal, sober and soft ground which corresponds to me to the texture she can reflect.
