Mare Internum

Mare Internum is a visual research exploring Mediterranean identity, where the sea is the protagonist. Conducted for the past several months in Marseille, it questions as much the place of the sea in the daily life of the inhabitants of this coast, as that which it occupies in the imagination and the construction of a personality. This project observes the dualities between the urban and the natural, chaos and tranquility, the warmth of bodies and the blue of the waves. It also explores the similarities, echoes and connections between this territory and my homeland on the opposite side of the sea; memories of Tel Aviv. Between otherness and resemblance, this new chapter is dedicated to the poetic essence of the sea and the sun, and the infinite ways in which people indulge in the joys of the Mediterranean; reflecting those known in my childhood and sought in my adult life. Mare Internum directly translates to “internal sea”, synonymous with the Mediterranean Sea. Intuitively documenting people and places that are dear to me, the internal sea becomes the protagonist of a personal experience.
