The sound of silence

Who said that a photograph doesn't make noise? For the competition THE SOUND OF SILENCE, in partnership with the Opéra-Comique, we are looking for photos that carry the clamour of those who no longer wish to remain silent, the pain of those who cannot express themselves, and the relief of those who can finally speak. Deliverance, acclamation, fear, show us photos that vibrate, that express themselves: let us hear these voices!
It is with the release of the plays L'Inondation, Carmen and Breaking the Waves, that we decided to open this competition in partnership with the Opéra Comique. At the end of the deliberations, the three winners of the jury will be able to exhibit their photo(s) in the theatre and the three winners of the internet users will have a guided tour of the theatre. Here is the synopsis of the plays that inspired the competition: - The Flood, by Francesco Filidei and Joël Pommerat (27/02 to 05/03): Between them, speech has become rarefied, silences have become heavy, torn apart by the laughter of neighbouring families. Life starts again when the two spouses end up adopting an orphan girl. However, the teenage girl will unexpectedly find her place in their home and in their hearts. - Carmen, by Georges Bizet (24/04 to 04/05): Among the cigar girls of Seville, Carmen the gypsy is the most seductive and whimsical. Apprehended for having assaulted a friend, she captivates the brigadier Don José who lets her escape. For her sake, he loses his rank and deserts, embracing the adventurous life of a smuggler. - Breaking the waves, by Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek (28/05 to 31/05): In a strict Calvinist community in the north of Scotland, young Bess, driven by a mystical fervour, falls in love with a stranger who works on an oil rig. Shortly after their marriage, Jan is rescued from an accident. Now paralysed, he urges Bess to seek pleasure from other men, a sacrifice that runs counter to common morality...
