my sweet little phenotype This is a series about my daughter, my only child. They always tell me she looks so much like me. That I forwarded some strong genes. I started this series when she was six and have photographed and examined her and her environment in these past years. I try to reflect on the way she is living her life and struggling with her own difficulties. The series is also about her father, my ex-partner, who decided to leave this life by his own will when she was 15. How is he still integrated in her system. After his death and as a mother I realise I started to watch her more carefully to see if she is doing fine by sometimes approach my work in a more scientific/distant way. In the full series some references are made to Charles Darwin’s ‘Origin of Species’ since I am interested in family ties and inheritances from past genetics. The story continues in investigating my own story and fears as well. I sometimes need to take distance and see her also growing up as the strong girl she is already. I feel that when I use metaphors mirrored by my images I am able to approach this theme a little softer. She will be fine.
