Picasso and I
« Everybody knows Picasso ! »
From October 21 to November 18 2015
The young Ladies of Avignon, Guernica, Olga in an armchair, etc. Everybody knows Picasso. Many have attempted to replicate his style, could we go one better and attempt to interpret his works in our own manner? There is no singular way of approaching the master. Chose your period: blue, rose, cubist or surrealist. The boldest will construct the body with geometric forms, subordinate details to structure, reduce colours, interlock surfaces and volumes in space. Your images could engage a dialogue with sculpture much like he did with his paintings.
For the better part of his life, the artist played with photography, exploring the medium’s capacity to magnify and render reality to a mere abstraction. Appropriate his tools of distortion and deconstruction, and produce your own Picasso-inspired pictures. The jury comprised of Laurent Lebon (Director at the Picasso Museum in Paris), artist Amélie Harrault and photographer Gérard Rancinan will select the three most beautiful pictures. The three pictures that accumulate the most votes will win the famous wipplayers’ award!
