Only few people visit the Rachid Karamé Exhibition Hall, designed by the famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, in the heart of Tripoli in northern Lebanon. Abandoned, forgotten, unknown, it nevertheless reveals an extraordinary architectural treasure. Bathed in a decadent, post-apocalyptic atmosphere, it bears the traces of a painful history, that of the Lebanese war and the conflicts, but also all the popular and urban stories, legends and blurred memories. Sometimes, one meets a runner, a family walking there. For everyone, this vibrant place has a different evocation. How should we look at it? What story to project? The impossible realisation for the architect becomes the terrain of all possibilities for the visitor, the heirs that we are.
