Festival du Monde Arabe de Montréal (FMA)
Created in 2000, the Festival du Monde Arabe de Montréal (FMA) is a Montreal-based presenter and producer of interdisciplinary and intercultural creations and events. Its artistic vision expresses a desire to forge new transcultural aesthetics of fusion and hybridization. The Festival promotes the encounter and dialogue between Arabo-Oriental and Western cultures through artistic projects in which both cultures are questioned in their very foundations, with a sincere concern for authenticity. Far from claiming an image of exoticism, his approach is rooted in a genuine spirit of renewal. The works he presents are a clever and daring blend of ancient and modern art that transcend differences and challenge society in its universal dimension, whatever the place or time. Each year, the FMA offers a thematic program divided into three sections: Performing Arts, Salon de la Culture and Cinema.
