The Musée des Confluences
Opened in December 2014, nestled between the rivers Rhône and Saône, between earth and sky, the museum is an architect's dream for the Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. This "building-landscape" has no main facade: it is a multi-faceted stainless steel structure, which hides its interior spaces and catches the shifting colours of the sky. The museum is a metaphor for constantly evolving knowledge, which it aims to share with all. One of Lyon's must-visit attractions, the Musée des Confluences tells the story of humanity and life. It creates conversations between the immeasurable riches of cultures and civilizations, in order to better understand the world and inspire dreams. Offering a unique experience with its remarkable exhibition designs, the museum takes visitors on a journey through time and across continents, as they discover the beauty of its collections and diversity of its temporary exhibitions.
