Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles
Director : Stéphanie Pécourt From peripheral to consecrated Far from constituting a mausoleum that would contribute to the canonization of the heritage heritage of French-speaking Belgian culture, the Center is a benchmark catalyst for so-called Belgian contemporary creation - a space of junctions and intersections. Through a resolutely disanctuarial and transdisciplinary program, the Center is mandated to disseminate and promote the signatures of artists based in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, with a view to optimizing their irradiation in France. It thus ensures the promotion of emerging or confirmed talents, from the peripheral to the consecrated. It helps to stimulate international co-productions and partnerships and to crystallize attention in favor of the so-called Belgian scene. The Center unveils, by season, artistic approaches which attest to the irreducibility to a common denominator of porous territories of contemporary creation. Located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, opposite the Center Pompidou, its program covers more than 1000m2. Deterritorialized island, it also implements programming outside the Walls in synergy with French institutions, operators and events. The Center is a decentralized service of Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI): an instrument of international policy led by Wallonia, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and the French Community Commission of the Brussels-Capital Region.
