Rain and more rain... France was hit by very heavy rainfall last month. While numerous rainfall records were set, flooding affected several départements, sometimes on several occasions, as in the north of the country, where the population paid a heavy price. In front of a photographer's lens, a flood is inevitably striking because of the astonishing character of an abnormally empty landscape, a place that has become uninhabitable and hostile or, on the contrary, very calm, like a lake that has swallowed up a world. Our Album of the Week tries to capture the strange aesthetics of floods, with a thought for the people who are hardest hit by them.
